There are two different roles within our team of Facilitators. Our Education Facilitators work closely with students in our Inclusive Education program at one of our three campuses, while Employment Facilitators work with clients in our Inclusive Employment program to help reach the client’s employment goals.

Volunteering

Join a team of passionate volunteers and get the opportunity to have a positive impact on students in our Inclusive Education program. We have volunteering opportunities at all three of our campuses.

All volunteers with IPSESA must meet these general requirements: 

‣ A current Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening   

‣ Valid First Aid Certification

Peer Mentor

We are seeking peer mentors that are passionate about creating a more inclusive campus at the University of Calgary. Through this role you will actively create opportunities for inclusion on campus, and build meaningful connections with IPSE students. This opportunity is open to all University of Calgary students with a passion for inclusion and campus engagement.

What you will do:

As a peer mentor, you will be matched one-on-one with an IPSE student based on shared interests. Your role involves supporting the student by participating in campus life together. This could include attending events such as SU club activities and DINOS games, as well as enjoying more casual activities like wing nights at The Den or using the Active Living facilities. You and the IPSE student will collaborate to choose which events to attend. 

 

This position lasts the Fall and Winter semesters (September – April). 

​

Requirements:

‣ Meet with an IPSE student on a biweekly or monthly basis (2 - 4 hours/month commitment) 

‣ Knowledge of campus life at the University of Calgary 

‣ Meet the general requirements to volunteer with IPSESA 

​

How to Apply:

Applications open during the Summer semester to fill positions for the upcoming Fall-Winter semesters. Applicants must be available for an interview in late August.

Through this role you will actively create opportunities for inclusion on campus, and build meaningful connections with IPSE students. This opportunity is open to all St. Mary's students with a passion for inclusion and campus engagement.

What you will do:

As a peer mentor, you will be matched one-on-one with an IPSE student based on shared interests. Your role involves supporting the student by participating in campus life together. This could include attending club events, going for lunch, attending Lightning games together, and much more. You and the IPSE student will collaborate to choose which events to attend. 

 

This position lasts the Fall and Winter semesters (September – April). 

 

Requirements:

‣ Meet with an IPSE student for a minimum of 1 hour/month 

‣ Knowledge of campus life at St. Mary’s University 

‣ Meet the general requirements to volunteer with IPSESA

Through this role you will actively create opportunities for inclusion on campus and build meaningful connections with IPSE students. This opportunity is open to all SAIT students with a passion for inclusion and campus engagement.

 

What you will do:

As a peer mentor, you will be matched one-on-one with an IPSE student based on shared interests. Your role involves supporting the student by participating in campus life together. This could include attending events such as SAITSA club meetups, recreation centre activities, student workshops, or campus celebrations like the Fall Carnival. You and the IPSE student will collaborate to choose which events to attend. Your involvement will help create a more inclusive and engaging campus experience.

This position lasts the Fall and Winter semesters (September – April).
